Inkolives : A Journey of Passion, Heritage, and Craftsmanship
Inkolives was born from a blend of passion, heritage, and craftsmanship. The journey began when Giuliana designed the logo during her graphic design studies, inspired by an assignment to represent a book through design. The logo, depicting an archer, symbolizes precision and artistry. The name combines "ink" for her love of typography and "olives" for her Mediterranean heritage, encapsulating over 30 years of Giuliana's personal history.
Giuliana's connection with artisanal craftsmanship started at 18 in Italy, where she collaborated with the same artisans who now create Inkolives products to craft leather sandals. After moving to Australia and launching Importante in 2011, she felt a strong desire to bring this art form to the Australian market. In 2016, the first collection of Inkolives sandals was born—comfortable, understated, unique, and entirely handmade.
From sandals, the collection expanded to bags. The Isarella bag, the first of its kind, holds a special place in Giuliana's heart, marked by a personal story of a spilled sandwich oil stain. The artisans, including Ciccio, who finds therapeutic solace in hand-stitching, were challenged to create belts and other accessories. Each piece exudes passion, uniqueness, and the timeless quality of handmade craftsmanship.
