A winter escape to Seoul: work, food, and unforgettable moments

A quick work trip with a side of adventure

One of my favourite things about working with family is being able to travel together for work. Mum (Giuliana) and I (Giorgia here) recently took a short but exciting trip to Seoul to meet a new label we’ll be introducing soon—stay tuned! Yes, it was a work trip, but if there’s one thing we believe in at Importante and La Casa, it’s that there’s always time for a little fun, especially when it involves great food and beautiful places. With winter in full swing, the city was covered in a blanket of snow, making it all the more magical. Thankfully, we had our heavy coats from STAPF and our new La Bottega di Brunella AW25 jackets with us, which were true lifesavers.

A city dusted in snow

Seoul in winter is a dreamscape. The snowfall and crisp air made every walk an experience in itself. We wandered through Hanok villages, where traditional tiled rooftops sat elegantly under layers of fresh snow, contrasting beautifully against the modern city skyline. The mix of old and new was everywhere - one moment, we were stepping back in time in Bukchon Hanok Village, and the next, we found ourselves lost in the neon glow of trendy shopping districts, navigating bustling streets filled with energy.

A culinary adventure

No trip to Seoul would be complete without indulging in its world-class food, and we made sure to embrace every delicious moment. A definite highlight was a Michelin-starred bibimbap restaurant perched on top of a mountain. Getting there was an adventure in itself, but the reward was a perfectly balanced dish of warm rice, crisp vegetables, and rich gochujang. Then there was the bread, salt and truffle, warm and fragrant, easily one of the best we’ve ever had. And to top it all off, black sesame lattes became our daily ritual, the nutty, slightly sweet flavour proving to be the ultimate winter comfort.

The rhythm of the city

Seoul’s energy is something special—a seamless blend of fast-paced modernity and deeply rooted tradition. Our days were filled with winding alleyways, hidden tea houses, and tiny boutiques, only to be followed by the buzzing energy of Myeongdong’s street markets. Even in the busiest districts, the city never felt overwhelming. Instead, it carried an effortless charm, a kind of organised chaos that made every street feel like a discovery.

Another adventure to remember

While the food and sights were incredible, what truly made this trip memorable was experiencing it together. From getting lost in underground shopping malls to laughing over yet another sweet treat, it was the small moments in between that made the journey special. Travel isn’t just about where you go—it’s about who you share it with, the stories you collect, and the memories that linger long after the trip ends.

Seoul gave us stunning sights, unforgettable flavours, and the perfect winter wonderland, reminding us why we love exploring the world. Another country ticked off the bucket list, countless memories made—and, of course, an exciting new label on the way. Where to next?
